Belly dancing has finally come into it’s own and we couldn’t be happier about it. It’s funny because belly dancing isn’t really a term that’s used by the dancers or even in the cultures where it originated - it’s a term coined primarily by westerners - it’s more a description of what it looks like.
If you were to visit an Arabic country, you’d probably be surprised to learn that what we call belly dancing is actually known only as oriental dance which probably helps to explain why belly dancing is so popular in the far east.
